Elementary school students do research at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences
In 2024 and 2025, the Faculty of Environmental Sciences at the University of Jan Evangelista Purkyně in Ústí nad Labem actively participated in a project aimed at connecting the university environment with the primary education sector through visits to elementary schools. The coordinator is the Local Action Group Labské skály.
In February 2024, we were delighted to welcome the elementary schools Neštěmická, Stříbrnická, SNP, and České mládeže. Second degree of elementary school students had the opportunity to spend four hours at our faculty and explore the world of science and research through a program called “Exploration at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences”. This event was led by experienced educators Miloslav Kolenatý, Jakub Ederer, Diana Holcová, Petr Novák, and Dominik Brétt, representatives from all three departments of our faculty. We enthusiastically observed how students and their teachers discovered new horizons of scientific knowledge and technology.
This initiative has met with great interest from both educators and students. The open doors of our university not only provide an opportunity to glimpse into the university environment but also inspire the younger generation to further education and the development of their academic interests. We are pleased to be part of this project and look forward to meeting new classes again in September of this year.
