STUDKON 2026: PhD Students Presented Their Research

The Faculty of Environment of Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem, together with the Faculty of Science, organized another edition of the international doctoral conference STUDKON. Throughout the day, young researchers from different fields and countries gathered at the CPTO building to present their research, discuss current scientific topics and share their experiences from doctoral studies.

The conference featured scientific presentations, a poster session and informal discussions focused on research topics. Besides the presentations themselves, an important part of the event was also the opportunity for students with different academic backgrounds and experiences to meet and exchange ideas.

“PhD students are the real backbone and foundation of every university. In my opinion, doctoral studies are one of the most fascinating periods of life. During this time, people absorb an enormous amount of new information and often realize for the first time what they truly want to become and why they do their work. What I see in this audience are talented young people who will shape the future of science and society,” said Associate Professor Jiří Orava during the opening speech.

In his address, he also emphasized the importance of an international environment, sharing experiences and exchanging different perspectives. According to him, science moves forward through meetings between people from different countries, disciplines and backgrounds, as well as through the ability to bring new and sometimes provocative ideas.

The conference also included competitions for the best presentation and best poster.

1st place – Lisa Postelt

3rd place – Marek Dubovský

Best Posters

STUDKON has long provided doctoral students with a space for their first larger scientific presentations in front of an international audience. For many participants, the conference is also an opportunity to receive feedback from colleagues in other fields and establish new collaborations.
